That is hilarious! I wonder if they actually know it's their tail? I know when I tease my dogs with their own tail they go nuts trying to catch it! :o)
little lucy chases her tail like crraazzyyy. she can catch it too, at least when its particularly poofy. but when she does she gets bored, and then lets it go, and then the tail is free again so she can chase it again.

Im sure they never know. My little cat loooooves his tail. And the other cats' tails. Not that they appreciate it ;)
